Obituary of Joseph A. Brooks
Joseph Brooks
Joseph Brooks, a devoted husband, father, and lifelong lover of the outdoors, passed away peacefully at home in Greenville, NY, on Friday, May 9, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family and loyal dogs.
Born and raised on Long Island, Joseph brought laughter wherever he went. Known for his sharp wit, endless supply of jokes, and perfectly timed one-liners, he had a remarkable gift for lifting spirits and making people laugh. Whether it was a classic (maybe inappropriate) joke or an elaborate prank, Joseph’s sense of humor was a constant reminder to find joy in everyday moments.
He found peace and happiness outdoors—especially while fishing on his boat in Merrick Bay—and was never more content than when swapping stories and teasing loved ones. His playful spirit, kind heart, and love for his family and pets were the cornerstones of his life.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife (Deborah), daughter (Anna, the light of his life), son-in-law (Rikki), two cherished furry grandchildren, brother (Michael), sister (Monica and Frank Smith), nieces and nephews, and many other close family and friends whom he loved immensely. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and light-hearted mischief.
He will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, May 19th at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville. Condolences may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
“May my friends and family always multiply and never divide.”
