Obituary of Elsie M. Turon

GREENVILLE - Elsie Mae Turon entered her Heavenly Home on Monday, June 2, 2025 surrounded by her family.

She was born at home in Greenville on April 9, 1931, the youngest child of the late George Sr. and Mary Turon. All of her 8 siblings predeceased her- Helen Koch, Ruth Birmann, Mildred, Mary, George Jr, Charles, Joseph and John Turon. Elsie graduated from Greenville Central School in 1948 and began her Employment with the General Electric Company in Schenectady. She retired in 1989. For most of her 40 year career, she was part of the Corporate Engineering Services Division, responsible for the College recruitment and development of young Engineers for the Company.

Although Elsie enjoyed traveling and had visited all of the States in the US and some Foreign Countries, she was always glad to return home, to the beautiful Catskill Mountains, which she loved. Elsie belonged to several Senior Groups and attended the South Westerlo Congregational Christian Church, where she worshipped and served her Lord.

She is survived by Nieces - Carole Jansen Byrne, Sally (Stu) Turon Carlin, Laurette (Peter) Turon Sudds, Kathleen (Don) Turon Kieffer, Kristen Kieley Turon and Elaine Turon, and Nephews Douglas (Judy) Koch, Richard (Cindy) Koch, Leland Turon and V. Mike Donovan. She was predeceased by Nieces and Nephews- Janis Jansen Donovan, Sharon Koch, Audrey St. Clair, Sandra St. Clair Gottsamer, Michael Byrne, Kenneth, Gary, John, Nathan and Diane Turon. She is also survived by many loved Great and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews. A special bond existed between Elsie and her Great Nephew Scott, who lived with and helped her during her latter years.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 1 p.m. in the South Westerlo Congregational Christian Church, 282 CR 405, South Westerlo, NY 12083. There will be a viewing hour beginning at 12 noon in the church.  Interment will be following the service at the Alcove Cemetery.

Elsie's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the amazing staff at St. Peter's Hospital and St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the caring and loving services provided to Aunt Elsie. They would like to thank Scott and the staff at Cunningham's Funeral Home for their kind and compassionate assistance. They would also like to thank Pastor Will Balta, and all the friends and family that have reached out, visited and lifted Elsie in prayer.
