Obituary of Michael Ryan Canastra
Our beloved brother, Michael “Mikey” Canastra left this world far too soon on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the age of 40.
He lived life with joy and passion, finding peace by the water with a fishing pole in hand. His excitement at the track is where his love for RC car racing came alive.
But above everything else, his greatest love was being a dad to his beautiful daughter, Nora. She was his pride, his joy, and the light of his life.
Michael had a way of making people laugh, of lifting spirits, and of showing up for those he cared about. His absence leaves a hole that can never be filled, but his love and memory will carry on forever.
He is survived by his daughter, Nora; his siblings, Timothy Canastra (Sharon) and Caitlyn Canastra; his Aunt Diane (Dale) Dean; and many extended family and friends who loved him deeply. He is predeceased and welcomed into heaven with open arms by his loving parents, Timothy and Deborah Canastra.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 2 nd at 4 p.m. at the Oak Hill-Durham Fire House. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation for the benefit of Michael’s daughter, Nora. Donations for “Benefit of Nora Canastra” may be made at any branch of the National Bank of Coxsackie.
Condolence messages may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
