Obituary of Joseph A. Porretto
PRESTON HOLLOW – Joseph A. Porretto, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at his residence.
Mr. Porretto was born in Brooklyn on November 5, 1941, son of the late Samual and Eleanor Moquin Porretto. He graduated from Catholic High School and attended night school at St. John’s University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. Mr. Porretto was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for his entire career. He began in the mail room, and retired 37 years later as a systems analyst. Mr. Porretto and his family owned a summer home in Preston Hollow, and made it their full-time home in 2008.
Mr. Porretto is survived by his wife, Nancy Lucania Porretto; two sons, Michael A. and Steven J. Porretto; two grandchildren, Christina and Steven Porretto; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, August 10th from 5 until 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 11th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by burial in Brookside Cemetery, Preston Hollow. Condolence messages may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
