Obituary of Anna Ruth Greer

EAST DURHAM – Anna Ruth McClure Greer, 88, passed away on Friday morning, August 21, 2026.

            Anna Ruth was born in Manhattan on December 10, 1937, a daughter of the late I. Walton McClure and Helen Adamek McClure.  She graduated from Greenville High School.  Anna Ruth retired from the Scarsdale School System, where she worked as Nutrition Supervisor.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of the former Durham Valley American Legion, and several senior citizens clubs.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with her family, and socializing with her friends.

            Anna Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susie Halsey and Alyson Greer, and son-in-law, Jimmy Merolle; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Debbie Treacy and Harry McClure; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life for 56 years, Albert A. Greer, who died November 2, 2013; and her sister, Winifred Hagelmann.
