Obituary of Lewis J. Bloom

Bloom, Lewis “Rusty” FREEHOLD – Lewis “Rusty” Bloom, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 20, 1947 in Catskill to Lewis and Lorraine Williams Bloom. Rusty was an Air Force Veteran and retired from New York State Department of Corrections. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and snowmobiling. He also was a snowmobile safety instructor and a hunter education safety instructor. Rusty was an active member of Mt. Nebo Hunting Club, Norton Hill Wildlife Club, Catskill Mountain Snowriders, and Capital Region Trap League. Rusty is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jean Doherty Bloom; his son, Chad (Amber); daughter, Becky (Ted Perretta); five grandchildren, Jared, Nathan, and Connor Bloom, Madison and Sadie Perretta; his mother, Lorraine; sisters, Eldena Dolan, Harriet (Raymond Hanusik), and Coral (Gary Simons);several nieces and nephews. Rusty was predeceased by his father, Lewis. No funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held in the summer, on a date to be determined.
