Obituary of Dennis P. Mullarkey
WEST COXSACKIE – Dennis P. Mullarkey, 65, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a prolonged illness. Born in Middle Village, Queens, on March 24, 1948, he was son of the late James and Mary McGroarty Mullarkey. Dennis was raised there, and worked for General Motors Corp for several years. He then began his career as a bartender, working in Queens, Manhattan, and East Durham. Dennis was a member of Our Lady of Knock Council 6439, Knights of Columbus of East Durham. He enjoyed his family, travel, sports, especially skiing and playing golf, and attending the Tudor reunions.
Dennis is survived by his siblings, James Mullarkey Jr., Neil (Susan) Mullarkey, Thomas (Patricia) Mullarkey, Beatrice (James) Regan, Mary Lou Nichol, Michael Mullarkey, and Gerry (Christine) Mullarkey; 24 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews; and his good friend, Mary von Holsteyn. In addition to his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his brother, Kevin.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 22 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham. Spring burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
